Research Team
The research group "of the materials and surface engineering laboratory", which is part of the Polytechnic Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Udine, consists of teaching and technical staff from the disciplinary scientific fields of materials science and technology (ING-IND/22) and metallurgy (ING-IND/21). The main research topics are related to metals, especially surface engineering, polymeric, ceramic and composite materials, as well as materials for energy storage.
Internationally, the group belongs to the following ERC fields:
- PE4_4 Surface science and nanostructures
- PE4_16 Corrosion
- PE4_17 Characterization methods of materials
- PE5_1 Structural properties of materials
- PE5_2 Solid state materials
- PE5_3 Surface modification
- PE5_4 Thin films
- PE5_6 New materials: oxides, alloys, composite, organic-inorganic hybrid, superconductors
- PE5_7 Biomaterials, biomaterial synthesis
- PE8_7 Mechanical engineering and production (forming, assembly, joining, separation)
- PE8_8 Materials engineering (biomaterials, metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, ...)
The head of the research group is Prof. Lorenzo Fedrizzi, full professor of Materials Science and Technology at the University of Udine.
The group is composed by 3 associate professors (prof. Stefano Maschio, prof. Francesco Andreatta, prof Alex Lanzutti), 3 Assistant professors (PhD Giovanni capurso, PhD Alfredo Rondinella, PhD Matteo Zanocco), 2 research fellows (PhD Franco Furlani, Eng. Niki Picco), 3 PhD students (MSc. Michele Motta, Eng. Francesco Sordetti, Eng. Erica Tubaro, MSc. Chiara Rota) and one Technician (Mr. Michele Magnan).
